The investigation heard how his mother got a communication on November 8th, 2021 via online platforms, from a individual asking if her son was her offspring. The message added: "Inform him appreciation for burgling my apartment."

In a statement read to the court, the mother said the individual had been in the media, claiming her infant's remains had been stolen in a burglary - a claim which was false.

Police Investigation

An investigation report from police later determined the alleged burglary victim had "provided false information" and "evidence shows that said property was not stolen in the first place".

News coverage about the alleged stolen remains attracted online responses, and although Kai was not identified in the posts, his parent said people "knew it was him".

The "social media content were really distressing", she said.

She added that her son had been identified with mild attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and as part of that disorder, other individuals' opinions really mattered to him.

"It would have hurt him deeply," she commented, "especially when this was untrue".

The teenager was arrested at his residence, but nothing was discovered. He was transported to a police station and later released under investigation.

Police said they would be in touch, the inquest heard, but had failed to reached out to the relatives by the time of his death.

Isolation and Worry

His parent said her son "became isolated" after the detention and "repeatedly inquired me whether I had received anything from the police", because his condition meant sometimes "a minute could seem like much longer".

When she spoke to him about the supposed burglary, she said her child informed her he had entered the residence because the resident who resided there had said he could utilize the bathroom whenever he needed, but refuted removing anything.

Online Harassment

In a joint statement between her and her spouse, the mother said her child was being bullied online after the allegations.

The inquest learned that one young adult encouraged the teenager to end his life.

She had no concerns on the evening before he died, explaining how she had listened to him "laughing and joking".

She described him as a "caring, loving" young man, and said her "family is totally shattered".

He had been "obviously concealing his concerns", she said, noting that he could not stand to have anybody "think bad of him".

Educational Reaction

The inquest heard from educational personnel at Connah's Quay High School.

On November 8th, she "heard some students talking that Kai had been detained and that was the first I learned".

"He told me... he'd was innocent," she continued.

After the conversation, the staff member said she called the family's parents' telephone and provided a message saying she had spoken to Kai about the accusations.

The proceedings learned his family said they did not receive that communication.

Official Finding

Delivering a descriptive finding, he said: "Approximately November 8th, 2021, unsubstantiated accusations were made against the teenager, a 14-year-old individual.
